PURPOSE

As teachers in Medford we created the Teachers Equity Scholarship Fund  to:

- support students of color in our district

-promote the field of teaching as a vocation

-support the training and development of teaching candidates of color

-support recruiting teaching candidates of color

-retain young teachers of color

-support having young teachers of color from Medford who reflect the experience of so many of the students in Medford.

 

We recognize that according to the 2024-2025 district profile data, Medford’s students are 43% Black, Latinx, Asian, Native American and Multi-Race, and the same populations made up only 5% of our teaching staff. 

 

We recognize that all students benefit from engaging with a diverse teaching staff.
